SheMusafir Cancellation & Refund Policy

At SheMusafir, we make arrangements in advance with hotels, transport partners, local hosts and other service providers. When a booking is cancelled, some of these costs may already have been committed and may not be recoverable.

Our cancellation policy balances these commitments with our promise to treat every traveller fairly and transparently.

1. Cancellation by the Musafir (Traveller)

If you need to cancel your journey, please inform us as soon as possible through our official communication channel (Email)

For standard SheMusafir journeys:

  • 30 days or more before departure: 10% cancellation charge; 90% refund
  • 15–29 days before departure: 25% cancellation charge; 75% refund
  • 8–14 days before departure: 50% cancellation charge; 50% refund
  • 4–7 days before departure: 75% cancellation charge; 25% refund
  • 0–3 days before departure: 100% cancellation charge; No refund
  • No-show: 100% cancellation charge; No refund

The cancellation date will be the date on which we receive your cancellation request over email.

Missed or unused services: no refund if she arrives late (including from a delayed bus) or skips included services.

2. Non-Refundable Costs

Some components of your journey may have separate cancellation conditions.

These may include:

  • Non-refundable hotel bookings.
  • Flight, train or bus tickets.
  • Government permits or entry fees.
  • Special activities or experiences booked specifically for you.
  • Event or festival bookings.
  • Other supplier charges that cannot be recovered.

If such a cost affects your refund, we will communicate it to you as clearly as possible before or at the time of booking.

For customised or specially curated journeys, different cancellation terms may apply. These will be mentioned in your booking confirmation.

3. Rescheduling or Transferring Your Journey

Sometimes you still want to travel just on a different date.

Before cancelling, you can ask us about:

  • Changing your travel date, subject to availability and applicable supplier charges.
  • Transferring your booking to another eligible traveller, subject to supplier approval and applicable name-change charges.

Any additional cost arising from a change will be communicated to you before the change is confirmed.

Rescheduling or transferring a booking is not guaranteed, particularly close to the departure date.

4. Emergencies & Exceptional Situations

We understand that some situations are beyond your control.

If you need to cancel because of a serious medical emergency, bereavement or another genuine exceptional circumstance, please reach out to us as early as possible through whatsapp message.

Depending on the situation and the amount recoverable from our partners, we may offer:

  • A partial refund.
  • A travel credit.
  • Rescheduling.
  • Transfer of the booking.

These are considered case-by-case, rather than automatically guaranteed.

Our intention is simple: where there is a fair solution, we will try to find it.

5. If SheMusafir Cancels or Changes the Journey

Your safety comes first.

SheMusafir may cancel, postpone or substantially modify a journey because of circumstances such as:

  • Unsafe weather or road conditions.
  • Natural disasters.
  • Government restrictions.
  • Route or destination closures.
  • Security concerns.
  • Major transport disruption.
  • Other circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

Where possible, we will first try to offer an alternative date or arrangement.

If SheMusafir cancels a journey before departure, we will communicate the available options, which may include rescheduling, travel credit or a refund of the amount recoverable from our suppliers.

If a cancellation is due to SheMusafir’s own failure to provide the contracted journey, the applicable refund will be handled accordingly.

6. Refunds

Once your cancellation and refund amount have been confirmed:

  • Refunds will normally be initiated within 7–10 working days.
  • Refunds will generally be made to the original payment method.
  • The actual time taken for the amount to reflect in your account may depend on your bank, card issuer or payment gateway.
  • If a supplier’s refund is pending, your final refund may take longer. We will keep you informed in such cases.

Refunds will be calculated after applicable cancellation charges and non-recoverable costs.

All refunds and cancellation charges will also be subject to applicable taxes and Indian law.

7. Our Promise to You

We don’t want a cancellation policy to feel like a list of penalties.

So here’s what you can expect from SheMusafir:

  • Clear cancellation terms before you book.
  • No hidden cancellation conditions wherever reasonably possible.
  • Honest communication when supplier charges affect your refund.
  • A genuine attempt to find alternatives before cancellation where possible.
  • Empathy when circumstances are genuinely difficult.
  • Safety over itinerary when continuing a journey could put travellers at risk.

Certain journeys or services may have specific cancellation terms, which will be communicated at the time of booking.

Nothing in this policy limits any mandatory rights or remedies available to you under applicable Indian law.
